Terms & Conditions

These terms apply to every locksmith job we take on, whether you book by phone, by text or through our website. Please read them before you call — the short version is below.

The fine print, up front

Same-day jobs carry a £50 call-out fee. Sending a locksmith to you straight away means diverting someone from the jobs already booked, so any job attended on the same day it is booked has a £50 call-out charge on top of the price of the work. We tell you this on the phone before we set off.

If your address is more than 5 miles from our base, any travel charge is quoted to you on the phone before we set off, and it never changes once we have agreed it. The 5 miles is measured from our base to the property where the work is carried out, by the shortest drivable route.

  1. 1.Who we are

Key Safe Locksmith provides emergency and planned locksmith services for homes, landlords and businesses across the UK, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Booking a job with us means you accept these terms.

  2. 2.What we do (and what we don’t)

We attend doors, locks, cylinders, uPVC and multipoint mechanisms, safes, and burglary damage on properties. Vehicle locks, car key cutting and car key programming are a separate service — our auto-locksmith team handles those, so please tell us when you call that it is a vehicle job and we will send the right person. We do not attend cars as part of the standard residential call-out.

  3. 3.Call-out fee and travel

Same-day jobs incur a £50 call-out fee. Attending on the day you call means moving a locksmith to you immediately, so a £50 call-out charge applies to any job booked and attended the same day, wherever we serve. It is quoted to you on the phone before we set off and does not change once we have agreed it.

For addresses beyond 5 miles, a travel charge may apply as well and will always be quoted to you before we set off, together with the price of the work. If we arrive and find the distance was not as described to us, we will tell you the total price before starting anything.

  4. 4.Quotes and prices

We agree a fixed price with you before any work begins, and the price we agree is the price you pay. Our advertised prices are typical starting ranges, because the final cost depends on the lock type, the door and what we find when we get there. If the job turns out to need more than we discussed, we stop, explain, and only continue with your agreement. We are not VAT registered, so no VAT is added to your bill.

  5. 5.Payment

Payment is due when the work is finished. We will confirm accepted payment methods when you call. We do not ask for bank details or deposits before attending a standard emergency job.

  6. 6.Proof that you are allowed in

For your security and ours, our locksmiths may ask for photo ID and proof that you are entitled to access the property — for example a driving licence, utility bill, tenancy agreement or a letter from the landlord or letting agent. We can refuse to attend, or stop work, if we are not satisfied you are entitled to be there, and we may charge for the visit in that case.

  7. 7.Getting in without damaging your door

We always try non-destructive entry first — picking, bypassing and decoding. Drilling is a last resort. If a lock has to be drilled, we tell you before we do it, explain why, and quote the replacement lock or cylinder at the same time.

  8. 8.Guarantee on work and parts

Locks and cylinders we supply and fit carry a 12-month warranty against faults in the part and in our fitting. The warranty does not cover misuse, forced entry after fitting, or a lock we did not supply. Call us and we will make a valid claim right — we are local and we answer the phone.

  9. 9.Cancelling or changing a job

You can cancel at any time before we set off at no charge. If our locksmith has already travelled to you, or is on the way, the travel charge quoted for your distance may still apply. If you change your mind after work has started, you pay for the work already carried out and any parts already fitted or ordered.

  10. 10.Access, safety and your property

Please make sure our locksmith can reach the door safely and legally, and tell us about anything unusual — alarms, dogs, gated access or fragile glazing. We take care with your property; if our work causes damage we make it good. Keep pets and children away from the work area while we are with you.

  11. 11.Our liability

We carry full public liability insurance and take reasonable care in everything we do. Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. Otherwise, our liability for a job is limited to the cost of the work and of putting right any fault in it. We are not responsible for losses that follow from a lock failing after our warranty period, or from keys you have given to other people.

  12. 12.Complaints

Call us first — most issues are fixed the same day. If you are still unhappy, email us with your address, the date of the job and what went wrong, and we will reply in writing. We would rather fix a mistake quietly than argue about it.

  13. 13.Your information

We use the name, address, phone number and job details you give us only to attend, quote, invoice and support your job, and we may use website and advertising tools to measure how people find us. We do not sell your details.

  14. 14.Changes and which law applies

We may update these terms; the version on this page is the one that applies to a job booked today. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, unless you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, where your local law and courts apply.
